Short movie of rolling tracks

We attached a piece of string and dragged the rolling tracks along. You probably won't hear the track noise over the engine when finished.

Top roller and stone guard support castings

The stone guard bolted to the fabricated 'castings' which also support the top rollers.

This photo shows one of the prototype castings There appears to be a number of different castings on the tractors I have seen.
I have made the style as illustrated in the parts book.

These are the partly fabricated 'castings.' This photo taken before the roller arms have been bent up to form the top roller supports.

U-Bolts

The 4mm rod was cut to length and threaded both ends. A piece of 8mm rod threaded 4mm was used to hold one end of the rod while bending.

This jig was made to make the 22 U-bolts required, 20 for the track roll
ers and 2 for the equa
liser beam axle.

The collection of U-bolts, nearly completed.

Thrust Plates

G code file for machining the outer shape.

Six thust plates profiled from the offcuts of the grouser plates.
The plates were drilled by CNC, a 10 mm centre hole and two 3mm hole.

Each plate was held on a 10mm pin by two 3mm cap screws for the machining of the top profile

This photo shows the thrust plates clamped in position by the U-bolts. They are also held in the frames by a bolt tapped into
the lobe of the thrust plate as in the prototype.

Track Rollers

Here are some of the components to make the track rollers. There are five rollers each side. Each roller consists of two wheels and a bearing housing. You can see both machined wheels and unmachined blanks. Also a cut-away of the track rollers from a copy of the parts book.Note the picture of the thrust plates and U-bolts.

This photo shows the components, note that some of the wheels have double flanges. The front and back rollers have single flanged wheels, the three centre rollers have double flanged wheels. The prototype had roller bearings I have used ball races.
